About Tailoring
- Tailoring belongs to the group of crafting professions.
- Tailors need cloth for their work, which can potentially be dropped by all humanoid enemies in World of Warcraft. These are then often processed into cloth bales.
- They also need threads and dyes, which are mainly sold by NPCs around the tailor teachers.
- Tailors basically get more cloth from their opponents after they have learned it ((Plündern von Stoffen – trainable in Dalaran (Northrend) – WotLK).
- Tailors make armor for cloth classes (priests, mages, warlocks), as well as capes and the ever-popular bags.
- With the flying carpets, the tailor also makes unique flying mounts.

Unlock Recipes
Most recipes are unlocked through quests. They are given to you by the NPCs around the teacher. There are 38 of them in total. Some quests take you to dungeons, but you can complete them all within a few hours if you are max level, if you are not you may have to wait, because later quests have level requirements. You should complete every quest before continuing with this guide!
One of the hardest quests is The Path to Suramar City (26th in the quest line). You need 1000 Ancient Mana for this quest, but the actual cap is 300, so you have to quest a bit in Suramar and farm reputation from the Night Seekers to reach this cap.
The most important quest is The Queen’s Grace Loom (about the 30th in the quest series). If you complete it, you will get two recipes: Imbued Silkweave Bracers and Imbued Silkweave. It also unlocks quests and merchants for the rest of the armor set, which you need to get from 90 to 100.
Recipe Ranks
Most Legion recipes have 3 ranks. Higher ranks allow you to craft an item with less material cost. So if you can, use only rank 3 recipes. You can get these from merchants, world quests, through reputation, drops in dungeons, or even through victories in Rated Battlegrounds.
If you move your mouse over the little stars in your spellbook, you will see directly where you can get the next rank of the recipe.
Unlock World Quests
Most rank 3 leveling recipes are obtained from world quests. To do them, you must first complete Uniting the Isles by becoming friendly with each Legion faction. You can get the quest with 110 from Archmage Khadgar. You only need to farm the reputation on one character, your twinks will just get the quest after they reach 110.
Once the world quests are unlocked, you just need to skill your profession to 25 and profession world quests will be added to the others.

Rank 1 Patterns
You can get the rank 1 recipes through the Tailoring quests. Tip: If you see any world quests that promise you a rank 3 recipe, complete them and skill with the rank 3 recipe instead of the recipes listed below.
- 24 x Silkweave Cinch – 288 Shal’dorei Silk
- 24 x Silkweave Pantaloons
384 Shal’dorei Silk, 48 Runic Catgut, 24 Sharp Spritethorn
Sharp Spritethorn and Runic Catgut are sold by Lalla Brightweave near your trainer. She sells you Sharp Spritethorn when you complete the A Needle Need and
Meticulous Precision of the Tailor quest series.
Rank 2 Patterns
- You will get the rank 2 recipe when you complete the quest line, but you can also buy Pattern: Silkweave Pantaloons from Lalla Brightweave if you prefer. However, you will complete the quest line anyway.
- Pattern: Silkweave Cinch – sold by Strap Bucklebolt for 250 Sightless Eye in the Dalaran Sewers. It should be easy to farm the Eyes in around 20 Minutes.
