About Engineering

• Engineering belongs to the group of crafting professions.
• To practice the profession you need a variety of small helpers, be it the Arclight Spanner or Blacksmith’s Hammer. Sometimes you’ll need to stand at an anvil to craft (with Thermal Anvil also available as a portable variant). You can find the exact requirements in the profession window directly at the materials.
• Engineers also need ores (ingots) processed by mining scholars to produce their engineering components. Depending on the invention, you may also need materials from other professions, such as cloth or leather.
• To avoid having to buy the ingots for your work from the auction house, it is a good idea to learn the collectible profession of mining as a second profession.

• Engineers can choose between goblin and gnome engineering and build exclusive inventions.
• Engineers mainly create items that are fun to use in everyday life or are small improvements to your equipment.
• Mounts such as the Sky Golem or pets such as Pierre also come from the skilled hands of engineers.
• Gnomes have a +15 bonus to engineering skill due to their Racial Ingenieursspezialisierung. This means that recipes stay orange 15 points longer, which can save materials and thus gold in many cases.

• After learning Legion Engineering, pick up the quest Aww Scrap! from Hobart Grapplehammer. It is rewarded with Legion Engineer.

Unlock Recipes

Most recipes are unlocked through quests. They are given to you by the NPCs around the teacher. There are 294 of them in total. Some quests take you to dungeons, but you can complete them all within a few hours if you are max level, if you are not you may have to wait, because later quests have level requirements. You should complete every quest before continuing with this guide!

You don’t have to do the whole series of quests for this guide, but you have to reach All Charged Up  (10th in line).

• Rank 1 Recipes
  If you finished the last Engineering Quest (All Charged Up) you have all Rank 1 Recipes.
• Rank 2 Recipes
  Rank 2 recipes are sold by The Widow in the Dalaran Sewer for 250 Sightless Eye. It takes around 15 minutes to farm 250 Eyes.
• Rank 3 Recipes
  Rank 3 recipes are sold by The Widow iin the Dalaran Sewer for 500 Sightless Eye verkauft. It takes around 30 minutes to farm 500 Eyes.

Recipe Ranks

Most Legion recipes have 3 ranks. Higher ranks allow you to craft an item with less material cost. So if you can, use only rank 3 recipes. You can get these from merchants, world quests, through reputation, drops in dungeons, or even through victories in Rated Battlegrounds.

If you move your mouse over the little stars in your spellbook, you will see directly where you can get the next rank of the recipe.

Unlock World Quests

Most rank 3 leveling recipes are obtained from world quests. To do them, you must first complete Uniting the Isles by becoming friendly with each Legion faction. You can get the quest with 110 from Archmage Khadgar. You only need to farm the reputation on one character, your twinks will just get the quest after they reach 110.

Once the world quests are unlocked, you just need to skill your profession to 25 and profession world quests will be added to the others.
